The BSPCA seeks a fair distribution of subsidies to animal shelters. Currently the division of subsidies is heavily dependent on the contributions made by cities or towns that may request individual contributions of EUR 0,25 per citizen.
We would like to see all towns and cities pay out these contributions into a fund that will in turn distribute financial support to shelters according to the number of animals a particular shelter houses. This fund could also benefit from any revenue gathered at border controls.
For a shelter to benefit from this scheme, it will need to provide the following documents:

  1. A certificate of shelter management;
  2. Proof that a course in animal behaviour therapy has been successfully completed;
  3. A certificate or degree in business management.

All shelters will be given access to a website on which all animals to be adopted can be posted with their picture. All adopted animals will be shown on the website during the 6 months that follow the adoption.
